Maeher State Park
This week's nature walk took us to Maeher State Park on the causeway between Mobile and Spanish Fort Alabama. This park has a camp ground, boat launch, a huge boardwalk around a small island, and a small nature trail. There are also a handful of cottages overlooking the bay available for rent. The temperature had dropped to near freezing during the night but was around 40 degrees by the time we arrived at about 7:30 am. I've never been to this park this late in the year, so the alligators that are usually in abundance in the waters around the boardwalk were all snuggled up in their mudholes.
